Basic Stainless Steel Course
COURSE OVERVIEW:
This course is a basic introduction to Stainless Steel and is suitable for students with matric level English and Science. This course serves the needs of newcomers to the Stainless Steel industry as well as refreshing the knowledge of old hands.
This course provides an opportunity to learn more about Stainless Steel and specifically the South African Stainless Steel Industry.
A written open-book examination is scheduled approximately two weeks after completing the course.
CPD POINTS:
Sassda’s Basic Stainless Steel Course has been recognized by “The South African Institution of Mechanical Engineers” for the awarding of continuous professional development points. This means that delegates who belong to any of the voluntary associations recognized by “The Engineering Council of South Africa” can claim CPD points for attending the course.
Delegates may claim 2 CPD points in category 1 for “The Basic Stainless Steel Course”. The CPD registration number for this course is SAIMechE-0188-08/10.

- Corrosion - Corrosion mechanisms
- Mechanical Properties - how they are measured and their significance with regard to design
- Welding - an overview of basic processes
- Fabrication - do's and don'ts
- Forms and Finishes - the different shapes and surface finishes available

Advanced Stainless Steel Course
COURSE OVERVIEW:
Suitable for those who have successfully completed the Basic Stainless Steel Course and graduate Engineers wishing to refresh their knowledge of Stainless Steel.
Designed to give students a higher level of understanding of Stainless Steel, its composition, metallurgy and workability (forming, machining & welding).
A written open-book examination is scheduled ± two weeks after completing the course.
