An innovative addition to the Lockers Engineering perforating division is picture perforation. Pic-Perf allows any image to be stunningly created in perforated metal. It utilises the basic perforation process to create pictures, designs or words by manipulating the hole size and or pitch of thousands of holes, to have different light patterns reflected on the plate. For this innovative approach to signage, Lockers has been regognised with a merit award in this year’s Stainless Steel Awards innovation category.

Pic-Perf can be used to create company logos, signage, and special features such as soccer players outside of the stadiums for the 2010 Soccer World Cup. Images can be created in any size and can also generate 3-dimensional effects. In addition to the aesthetic function of Pic-Perf, the basic functions of perforated plates still apply. These include ventilation, sun screening, partitions, balustrades, car park screening, acoustic applications and facades. Only, instead of being purely practical, they can now convey a message or create an emotion.  

Pic-Perf makes a statement without having to use words. However, words can be incorporated if required. The final product punched in your metal of choice, although stainless steel is ideal, can be an abstract artwork, logo or brand, or even a photograph or collage of images.

By producing these images in stainless steel, they are not only more durable, but they add to the “green” concept and provide an up-market advertising solution. With the high cost of building and finishes, architects can often only use stainless steel in prominent areas to make a statement. Picture perforation lends itself ideally to this application.
