The company’s Welding Spatter Block is a highly engineered chemical product which is proving to be of significant importance to a number of South African manufacturers and exporting fabricators.

Shield Surface Technologies believes that any hindrance to producing a quality product in the least possible time needs to be identified and eliminated so that the economic benefits can be realised immediately. These improvements are the basis of the company’s entry.

The Spatter Block gel is used as a release agent for nozzles and contact tips when using the MIG-MAG process in both automated and manual applications. The time taken out of the production to stop the welding process to clean or replace nozzles and contact tips eats significantly into the “arc on time” or process efficiency. This product is ideally suited to automated applications.

The Spatter Block-HT is a water based release agent that is applied to the surface that is being welded. It is well known that weld spatter can cause cracks due to rapid heating and cooling, early onset of corrosion, act as a stress raiser and requires additional costly labour to remove.

Spatter Block-HT is not only used as the material being welded but is also used to protect tables, jigs, manipulation to robots. The product can be welded over without causing porosity or other welded defects.
